Motivational Thoughts to Cure Your Bad Day

“Sometimes you need those bad days, because it helps you truly appreciate the good ones.“

What is for you won’t go by you
My lovely friend Jasmin introduced me to this saying, when we were sitting in Starbucks, eating cake and talking about our goals and dreams in life. We are believers that everything has a purpose and that everything happens for a reason. Although you might not see it today or tomorrow. But when you look back in a few years, you will notice how every little thing has added up and brought you somewhere wonderful. And you will be grateful that things didn’t work out how you once wanted them to. If something doesn’t turn out how you wanted it to, just remember that there is probably a reason for it and that it just was not meant to be. I know saying this sounds silly and I know, that there are situations, where unfair and cruel things happen unnecessarily, but simply try and believe in destiny. It will hopefully help you to accept failure or handle bad things in your life more easily and give you motivation to keep going and to continue being positive towards things that are yet to come. I realise now, that if I hadn’t part ways with some people in the past, I would have never made the decisions which led me to being in this wonderful place in life where I am right now.

Every day may not be good but there is something good in every day
Checking our social media right after we wake up and being immediately bombarded with images of luxury, materialism and fake perfection first thing in the morning, we forget right away to value basic, little things in life. When then something major goes wrong, we feel completely shattered because we simply forget that even on a really shitty, bad day, there are is still good things happening, even if they are really small - and in bad times we must focus on the little things, we often take for granted, as they are sometimes all we really have.

In times when you feel like life is not going in the direction you want it to and you just can’t seem to find motivation in yourself to change it, there is nothing more toxic than surrounding yourself with negative people. Because in those people you won’t find motivation to change your life for the better, you will only find validation for your negativity - and that won’t bring you any further. So in times when life is shit, it is even more important to surround yourself with the right people. Surround yourself with dreamers, doers, believers and thinkers. People who bring out the best in you and people who are happy for you, when you succeed at something. People who stand behind you no matter what happens. People whose lifestyle truly inspires you and who push you to make you feel better and make you laugh. Honestly, I am not sad often, but when I am there is no place I can find so much inspiration, motivation and happiness than in spending time with my close family and my best friends, because only their presence or (in my case of studying abroad) their messages and voices make me feel really lucky and thankful.
